❓ How Do I Use a Mushroom Spore Syringe?
For legal edible mushroom cultivation, a spore syringe can be used to introduce fungal spores into a compatible, sterilised grow bag.
Clean the grow bag: Wipe the self-healing injection port and surrounding area with 70% rubbing alcohol and allow it to dry completely.
Prepare the syringe: Use a new, sterile needle. If your equipment requires flame sterilisation, follow the manufacturer’s instructions and allow the needle to cool before use. Never use a flame near rubbing alcohol or its vapours.
Inject the spore solution: Follow the instructions provided with your specific edible mushroom grow kit for the appropriate injection method and solution quantity.
Distribute the solution: Follow the kit manufacturer’s guidance on whether the bag should be moved or left undisturbed after inoculation.
Allow mycelium to develop: Under suitable conditions, viable spores may germinate and form white, thread-like mycelium that gradually colonises the growing material.
